Jason Grace is the Chief Operating Officer of Sandfire Resources Limited in Australia since September 2019. Mr Grace is an experienced mining professional with more than 26 years of industry experience spanning Australia and the Asia-Pacific region and ranging across multiple disciplines including general management, operational management, technical leadership, project/studies management, business improvement, mineral resource evaluation, mine planning and mine geology.

He was most recently Executive General Manager – Iron Ore for the leading diversified mining services group Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN), where he managed the group’s entire Australian iron ore business including the Yilgarn operations acquired from Cliffs Asia Pacific, the Iron Valley mine and the Kumina and Marillana projects.

Prior to that, he was Senior Director, Asia Pacific Iron Ore and Senior Director, Technical Services for Cliffs Asia Pacific Iron Ore, where he led and managed all elements of the Asia Pacific Iron ore business segment for USA-based Cleveland Cliffs Inc.

Prior to joining Cleveland Cliffs, Mr Grace enjoyed a 13-year career with Newcrest Mining Limited holding a range of senior managerial and operational positions including the group-wide role General Manager – Technical and Planning. He has also worked previously for BHP Steel and BHP Engineering – Mining Services, Arimco Mining Pty Ltd and RGC Thalanga.

Mr Grace’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Applied Science (Geology) from Queensland University of Technology; a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from James Cook University; and a Master of Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales.
